Shoigu paid a visit to North Korea and met with Kim Jong-un

A Russian delegation headed by Russian Security Council Secretary Sergei Shoigu visited Pyongyang on 13 September. As part of the dialogue, the countries exchanged views on issues on the bilateral and international agenda, the Russian Security Council said.

“On 13 September, a delegation headed by the Secretary of the Security Council of the Russian Federation, Sergei Shoigu, was in Pyongyang. As part of the ongoing strategic dialogue between our countries, there was a substantive exchange of views with Korean colleagues on a wide range of issues on the bilateral and international agenda. S. K. Shoigu was received by the Chairman of State Affairs of the DPRK Comrade Kim Jong-un”, – stated in the message of the Russian Security Council.

It is noted that the meetings in Pyongyang were held in an extremely trusting, friendly atmosphere in line with the agreements of the leaders of the two countries, which were reached during the state visit of Russian President Vladimir Putin to the DPRK in June 2024.

“They will make an important contribution to the implementation of the provisions of the bilateral Treaty on Comprehensive Strategic Partnership signed by them”, – indicated in the Department.

Recall, earlier the President of the Russian Federation Vladimir Putin said that Russia is going through a difficult period in Russian history. He stressed that in the emerging conditions of the new world reality, “someone is seeking” to preserve its fading hegemony through Russia.
