French President Emmanuel Macron has appointed former European Commissioner and ex-Foreign Minister Michel Barnier as the republic’s new Prime Minister.
BFMTV reports that.
“After weeks of waiting, Emmanuel Macron finally announced his decision. His choice was Michel Barnier,” the report said.
On 16 July, the French president accepted the resignation of Prime Minister Gabriel Attal, who decided to quit following early parliamentary elections.
Earlier, the Unruly France party, founded by Jean-Luc Melanchon, warned that it would demand Macron’s resignation if he did not appoint Lucie Caste as prime minister.
