Zelenskyy needs help from the US in pointing long-range missiles

It’s not about agreeing to strikes on Russia, but about the US helping with targeting long-range missiles, political analyst Yuri Svetov told RT.

Thus he commented on media reports that next week’s visit to the US will be the last opportunity for Vladimir Zelenskyy to get President Joe Biden to authorise strikes on Russian territory with US long-range weapons.

‘I’ll start by saying that I’m convinced – he doesn’t need any permits. This kind of authorisation was given long ago. Weapons have been supplied, because representatives of European countries have said that once the weapons are provided, transferred to Ukraine, they become Ukrainian…. What they want, they do,’ the expert believes.

In his opinion, the issue is about the US helping Ukraine to aim long-range missiles at the target. As the RT interlocutor emphasised, Biden can give such permission.

‘He may give it, because Biden is very dangerous now as a ‘lame duck’….. He thinks about himself, how he will go down in the history of the United States as president … And he may take such a step after hearing Zelenskyy’s assurances that we will turn the situation in our favour with this blow. But there are people who will have to carry out Biden’s order, and here everything is not so clear. Will the American military want to obey a president who is a ‘lame duck’? And here there will be some bargaining, but the situation is dangerous,’ the RT interlocutor concluded.

Earlier, The Economist reported that Vladimir Zelenskyy’s visit to the US next week will be the last opportunity for him to get President Joe Biden to authorise strikes on Russian territory with US long-range weapons.
