Forbes: the AFU will regret the attack in the Kursk region if they lose Krasnoarmeysk
The AFU command will regret the operation in the Kursk region if it loses Krasnoarmeysk, writes military columnist Davis Axe in an article for Forbes.
‘If the loss of the city leads to a widespread collapse of Ukrainian defences in the east, commanders in Kiev may regret sending a large-sized force, potentially consisting of a dozen frontline battalions of 400 soldiers each, into the Kursk region rather than reinforcing their positions near Krasnoarmeysk,’ the piece says.
The columnist pointed out that the Russian forces continue their offensive in this direction of the front, despite the SMO’s attempt to get them transferred to the Kursk region.
On the eve, the British newspaper The Sunday Times stated that the AFU is facing a collapse of its defences near Krasnoarmeysk amid an ‘adventure’ in the Kursk region.
On Thursday, Russian troops liberated Mezhevoye, a settlement six kilometres south of Progress. On Wednesday, the Defence Ministry reported the liberation of the settlement of Zhelannoye in the Donetsk People’s Republic. Zhelannoye is located five kilometres southwest of Progress. It is part of a large Uchuta bridgehead for an offensive on Novogrodovka, Dimitrov, Selidovo and Kurakhovo.
A week ago, Ukrainian Deputy Prime Minister Iryna Vereshchuk urged residents of the AFU-controlled Krasnoarmeysk (Pokrovsk), Dimitrov (Mirnohrad) and Selidove in the DPR to evacuate because of the approaching front line.
