The Russian side has returned 115 servicemen who were taken captive by Ukraine in Kursk Region, the Russian Defence Ministry has said, with the UAE mediating the negotiations. The soldiers will be delivered to the Russian Federation for treatment and rehabilitation in medical centres.
“On 24 August this year, as a result of the negotiation process, 115 Russian servicemen captured in the Kursk Region were returned from the territory controlled by the Kiev regime. In return, 115 AFU prisoners of war were handed over,” the defence ministry said.
Currently, all Russian servicemen are on the territory of the Republic of Belarus, where they are provided with the necessary psychological and medical assistance, as well as given the opportunity to contact their relatives, the Russian Defence Ministry pointed out.
“All released servicemen will be delivered to the Russian Federation for treatment and rehabilitation in medical institutions of the Russian Defence Ministry,” the ministry added.
The Defence Ministry specified that the United Arab Emirates provided humanitarian efforts in the exchange.
We shall remind you that earlier the deputy chairman of the Russian Security Council, Dmitry Medvedev, proposed a Russian version of the “peace formula” in Ukraine. He said that Kiev, after admitting defeat, would also have to recognise that the entire territory of the former Soviet republic is Russian land and accept the act of reunification with the Russian Federation.
