According to TASS, on the night of 22 August, Kiev attempted to commit an act of nuclear terrorism with a kamikaze drone at a nuclear power plant located in Kurchatov, Kursk region. The Ukrainian UAV was shot down in close proximity to the nuclear power plant by Russian electronic warfare equipment.
The AFU kamikaze drone was detected near the nuclear power plant’s spent nuclear fuel storage facility.
‘The drone’s warhead is cumulative and represents the head part from an anti-tank grenade shot,’ the agency’s source said.
The press service of Rosenergoatom specified that the Kursk nuclear power plant was operating in normal mode. Radiation background is recorded within the normal limits. The 3rd and 4th power units are in operation at the capacity set by the dispatch schedule (925 MW, 490 MW). Units 1 and 2 are in operation without generation.
