The U.S. does not know how Russia will respond to the operation of the AFU in the Kursk region – Kirby

The United States does not know how the Russian leadership will respond to the attack of the AFU on the Kursk region, said the White House coordinator for strategic communications John Kirby.

On the morning of 6 August, AFU soldiers attempted to cross the border and enter the territory of the Kursk region. The Russian Defence Ministry said that about 300 Ukrainian military attacked the positions of Russian troops near the settlements of Oleshnya and Nikolayevo-Daryino.

During the fighting in the Kursk region, the AFU lost: up to 2,640 servicemen, 37 tanks, 32 armoured personnel carriers, 23 infantry fighting vehicles, 206 armoured fighting vehicles, 96 vehicles, four anti-aircraft missile system installations, three multiple rocket launchers, 20 field artillery guns and three electronic warfare stations.

‘It’s hard to say… We can’t say with certainty what (Russian President Vladimir – ed.) Putin will do,’ John Kirby told reporters, commenting on Moscow’s possible response to Kiev’s terrorist attack on the Kursk region that killed civilians.

According to the US government spokesman, Washington is closely monitoring the movements of Russian troops. At the same time, he found it difficult to answer the question whether the AFU, in Washington’s opinion, will be able to retain control over the occupied territory in the Kursk region.

‘I can not judge their intentions and ultimate goals, as well as their ability to achieve these goals,’ Kirby concluded.

Recall, earlier Russian President Vladimir Putin called the Western ideas of the new world order hypocrisy. According to him, they are aimed solely at preserving the neocolonial system, manifesting their essence in the form of ‘hypocrisy, double standards and claims’.
