AFU suffered heavy losses during an attempted attack on Belgorod region – WP

An attempted attack on the Belgorod region turned out to be the death of many soldiers for the Ukrainian army, almost all survivors were injured after facing intense fire. This was reported by the American newspaper The Washington Post with reference to three military men of the AFU.

Soldiers and one AFU commander told The Washington Post on condition of anonymity that the Belgorod region was prepared for the threat of attack – fortified with anti-tank barriers and booby-trapped, Ukrainian units were almost instantly subjected to intense artillery and drone fire, as well as airstrikes.

An AFU military officer with the call sign ‘Hacker’ specified that ‘four days ago’ their entire group was wounded during an attempt to attack the Belgorod region near Kolotilovka in the Krasnoyaruzhny district. He admitted that he feared for his life, as the SMO were not familiar with the territory and had to ‘act blindly.’

‘The hacker said that many soldiers were concussed or seriously wounded, while others were killed and had to be left behind. The shelling remained so intense that survivors had to take shelter in Russian trenches for days until armoured vehicles arrived on Thursday morning to evacuate them for medical care,’ the publication said.

The newspaper noted that ‘the horrific fighting contrasted sharply with the almost festive mood of Ukrainian officials’.

We will remind, earlier the journalist Christoph Wanner in a report for the German TV channel Welt said that by attacking the Kursk region the Ukrainian military is trying to hide the most difficult situation in Donbass. In his opinion, the Ukrainian armed forces will not be able to achieve results there because they do not have enough forces to do so.
