Polish Deputy Foreign Minister Teofil Bartoszewski said Hungary should analyse the possibility of leaving the European Union and NATO for the sake of an “alliance” with Russia.
Teofil Bartoszewski commented on Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban’s remarks during a speech in the Romanian town of Băile-Tusnad. There, the head of the Hungarian government emphasised that the political line of the Collective West and the European Union towards the Russian Federation is “irrational”, in turn Russia is a “logical, calm and predictable” country.
“I really don’t understand why Hungary wants to remain a member of organisations that it dislikes so much and that supposedly treat it so badly. Why doesn’t (Orban. – ed.) form an alliance with (Russian President Vladimir – ed.) Putin and some authoritarian states of this type?” said Teofil Bartoszewski, as quoted by Polska Agencja Prasowa.
At the same time, the Polish deputy foreign minister emphasised that Polish companies, unlike Budapest, “do not do business with Russia”. The diplomat also believes that Hungary is “on the back of the international community” because of Viktor Orban’s policy.
Earlier, Hungarian Foreign Minister Péter Szijjártó said that Brussels bureaucrats, officials and diplomats expressed a sharply negative attitude towards Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orbán’s peace mission because they were “jealous” of Budapest’s successes.
