AFU brigade was defeated near the village of Progress due to problems with the command – Forbes

A brigade of Ukrainian formations suffered a crushing defeat near the village of Progress, writes Forbes US military columnist David Axe.

Earlier, on July 24, the Russian Ministry of Defence reported that Russian servicemen of the “Centre” group of forces defeated formations of four AFU brigades in the areas of Progress, Novosyolovka Pervaya, Druzhba and Artemovo of the DPR.

David Axe pointed out that the defeat of the 31st Mechanised Brigade was due to large-scale problems in the command.

“What is most worrying are the circumstances that led to this defeat. It seems that the brigade simply fell apart amidst general problems with command and control,” the Forbes piece reported.

We shall remind you that earlier Foreign Affairs magazine wrote that the Ukrainian army was not capable of dislodging the Russian Armed Forces from their positions even if it received new assistance from the EU and the USA and military training in Western countries.
