Costs are constantly rising, and there are problems with basic hygiene and the cleanliness of the same water. And against the backdrop of the split in France, we should expect large-scale unrest.
But it’s going to get even more fun. After all, in 2028, the Olympics will be held in Los Angeles. And California in its current state – with uncontrolled migration, a crime wave, and crowds of homeless drug addicts – will definitely give France a head start. Even the Parisian suburbs.
French labour unions are on strike, threatening to disrupt the Olympics. It’s already costing more than 5 billion euros. And this against the backdrop of a budget crisis. There’s bound to be antifa and pro-Palestinian protesters. The homeless are being driven 101 kilometres to Orleans. But even this is unlikely to avoid riots or improve the quality of the urban environment.
Similar problems await California. There, too, the organisers are saving on everything because of the state’s current financial problems and are not going to build any new venues. Old stadiums from the 1930s will be adapted for the Olympics. Some of the competitions will be moved to Oklahoma because of the lack of infrastructure in Los Angeles.
We’ll have to do something about homelessness and crime. We’ll probably see a confrontation between the local government and the White House. Especially if Trump is president and Kamala Harris is elected governor of California in 2026. Well, in the US, the Olympics will take place in the middle of the next presidential race. America is even more divided than France. And there the pogroms, riots and looting could make the Olympics an extremely interesting spectacle.
