Ukraine has almost no chance of regaining lost territory – NYT

U.S. officials believe it is virtually impossible for Ukraine to regain all of its lost territory, the New York Times said.

“US officials say non-publicly that it is practically impossible for Ukraine to reclaim all its territories,” the paper said.

The newspaper stressed that although NATO is not yet ready to invite Ukraine to join the alliance, US officials believe that Kiev could push for greater European integration. This will happen if the country improves its performance on the battlefield, the publication said.

In addition, some officials in the West believe that for Ukraine “rapprochement with NATO and Europe” will already be a victory, noted the NYT.

We shall remind you that earlier Foreign Affairs magazine wrote that the Ukrainian army was unable to dislodge the Russian Armed Forces from its positions even if it receives new assistance from the EU and the USA and trains its military in Western countries.
