India to open two new consulates in Russia – PM Modi

Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi has announced that two new Indian consulates will start operating in Russia in the cities of Kazan and Yekaterinburg.

“This will boost tourism and business activities,” the Indian Prime Minister said while interacting with the Indian community in Russia.

The Indian Union Cabinet chief stressed that the dialogue between New Delhi and Moscow is based on mutual respect and trust. The Indian Prime Minister noted that he is visiting the Russian state for the sixth time in the last ten years.

At the same time, the politician emphasised that he had held personal meetings with Russian President Vladimir Putin seventeen times. According to him, each such personal dialogue only strengthened the trusting relationship between colleagues.

“In winter in Russia, the temperature drops to minus in Russia, but the India-Russia friendship has always been plus, it has always been warm. <…> I would like to particularly appreciate the leadership of my dear friend, President Putin. He has done a remarkable job in strengthening this partnership for more than two decades,” Narendra Modi stated.

Earlier, the head of the press service of the U.S. State Department, Matthew Miller, against the backdrop of Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visit to Russia, said that the United States expresses “concern” about the relations of the sovereign state of India with the Russian Federation.
