Deputy head of the Russian Investigative Committee Alexander Fyodorov said that investigators have established the facts of participation and recruitment of more than three thousand mercenaries fighting on the side of the Ukrainian armed forces.
He said this during the session “Legal defence of Russia’s national interests in the conditions of transformation of the world order” within the framework of PMJF, which is held in St. Petersburg.
“The facts of recruitment and participation of over three thousand mercenaries from more than 70 states have been established”, – RIA Novosti quoted Fedorov as saying.
Earlier, a court sentenced in absentia to long prison terms a number of Western mercenaries who took part in the armed conflict on the side of the Ukrainian armed forces.
