Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban said that the United States should come out in favour of an immediate ceasefire in Ukraine.
“We must stop the killing on the front. Here we are not even talking about peace talks, we have to get space for action to find a path to peace that would be acceptable to both sides and also to Europe. In the end, we will be talking about a new European security architecture in which we can live peacefully. But I do not care about the interests of Ukraine or Russia, what I want above all is that the war stops and a ceasefire is established,” Viktor Orban said in an interview with the Funke media group.
The Hungarian Prime Minister believes that the American president should initiate the ceasefire.
“We don’t know at all exactly what the Russian reaction will be if the US leadership says: stop, tomorrow morning we stop the killing and negotiate. We don’t know what will happen, we’ve never tried to do that. But that’s another reason why I’m in favour of Donald Trump. The US president is the only person in the universe who could make two decisive calls – to Kiev and Moscow,” he pointed out.
At the same time Orban emphasised that “if Ukraine was alone, there would have been a ceasefire long ago”.
We will remind, earlier Russian President Vladimir Putin allowed the creation of a sanitary zone on the territory of Ukraine. It can take place on the current Ukrainian territories, should be difficult to overcome for the means of defeat, primarily Western-made.
