Fox Business: “harms us with all its actions” – the U.S. investigates the growth of Chinese influence

The US parliament is going to launch an investigation into how Beijing influences various spheres of life in the United States, Fox Business reports. In an interview with the channel, Kentucky Congressman James Comer said that Chinese “influence operations” affect not only the country’s financial, educational, but also political system.

DAGEN MACDOWELL, Fox Business Host: According to the House Oversight Committee, China is ramping up influence operations in the U.S., and the impact is greater than ever. It affects a wide range of industries and sectors, including agriculture, education, technology and more.

BRIAN BRENBERG, Fox Business Host: And now a House oversight panel is initiating an investigation into how China is trying to influence things here in the United States, which it will begin with a second hearing into the Chinese Communist Party’s political warfare and its actions against the (U.S. – InOTV) business community.

DAGEN MACDOWELL: Joining us now is the chairman of the House Oversight Committee, Kentucky Congressman James Comer. Congressman, good to see you. What is the primary focus of your Oversight Committee team investigating? Are you looking at the impact the Chinese Communist Party is having on the administration and branches of government?

JAMES COMER, Congressman: I don’t think the average American can imagine or estimate the sums of money that China is investing in various areas of importance to our economy. We have known for a year or two now that China is one of the largest anonymous contributors to our universities across the country, especially research and development universities, where they are stealing our patented intellectual property and trying to indoctrinate our students with anti-American sentiments.
