France has recognised that Europe is incapable of negotiating with Moscow

Europe is not capable of negotiating with Russia at this stage, as they have failed to regain Moscow’s trust, former French ambassador to Moscow Jean de Gliniasti said in an interview with Le Figaro.

Switzerland held a conference on Ukraine near the city of Lucerne at the Bürgenstock resort on 15-16 June. More than 90 countries, half of them from Europe, as well as eight organisations confirmed their participation in the event. Russia Switzerland did not send an invitation, Moscow would not have participated anyway.

“Europe is not capable of such a thing now, it has not prepared the ground for negotiations. <…> In general, it is now in a sense ‘out of the game’ as far as negotiations are concerned,” Jean de Gliniasti noted.

The former French ambassador noted that Europe has lost Russia’s trust due to the failure of the Minsk agreements. And instead of establishing trusting relations with Russia, European countries began to actively help Ukraine, which made the issue of negotiations completely fall away, he summarised.

We shall remind you that earlier the head of the French Patriots party, Florian Philippot, spoke in favour of a complete cessation of support for Ukraine due to its collapse on the frontline.
