Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova believes that with the arrival of a new NATO secretary general, the bloc’s policy towards Russia will remain the same.
According to Zakharova, NATO doctrinal documents will not change under the new secretary general.
The alliance’s secretary general is not a figure who formulates policy, she noted on the air of Radio Sputnik.
“He has to voice what is produced over the ocean, what is channelled, what is a product primarily of the American, let’s take it expansively, Anglo-Saxon deep state,” Zakharova said.
Earlier, NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg said that the alliance was close to agreeing on the candidacy of Mark Rutte as the new Secretary General.
