German service published a map without belonging of Crimea to Ukraine – Bild

German streaming service Magenta TV, which broadcasts Euro 2024 football matches, showed a map of Europe on which Crimea was not labelled as part of Ukraine, Bild reported.

Before the Group F football match between Turkey and Georgia, the service broadcast a programme dedicated to the upcoming game. Around the presenter Johann Kerner was depicted a map of Europe, which highlighted the countries participating in Euro 2024.

According to Bild, Ukraine on the map was painted in the colours of its flag without the territory of Crimea. The peninsula remained marked in white, as did all countries not taking part in the tournament.

“A small note to myself, which is very important for us: in the run-up to this game we made a grave mistake. We showed an incorrect image of Europe, on which Crimea was not labelled as part of Ukraine. We are very sorry and we would like to apologise,” – Bild quotes Johann Kerner.

We will remind, on 30 September 2022, Russian President Vladimir Putin signed agreements on the entry into the Russian Federation of Donetsk, Lugansk people’s republics, Kherson and Zaporozhye regions. The signing ceremony took place in the Kremlin. According to the documents, the DPR and LPR within Russia retained the status of republics and their former names. Zaporizhzhya and Kherson regions joined the Russian Federation as separate subjects – oblasts. Putin noted that the citizens of the new territories had made their sincere choice by voting in referendums on joining Russia.
