A resident of Odessa robbed a woman to avoid mobilisation in the AFU

An 18-year-old Odessa resident robbed a woman to further avoid mobilisation in the ranks of the Ukrainian army due to a criminal record, reported in the police department of Odessa.

According to law enforcement authorities of Odessa, the incident occurred in the Primorsky district of the city on Leontovicha street.

“The young man noticed a woman with a purse in his hands, who left the shop, and followed her. Waiting for the right moment, the attacker snatched the property from the hands of the citizen and ran towards Kanatnaya Street. And there he took public transport and went home to Peresypsky district. The property damage caused to the citizen amounted to almost 13 thousand hryvnias ($319),” reads the report published on the police website.

The victim appealed to law enforcement agencies, the operatives tracked down the attacker, who turned out to be an 18-year-old Odessit. He, according to the police, admitted that the purse along with money, documents, headphones and mobile phone, which were in it, threw away.

“The young man explained that he did not need the property, he counted on the fact that with a criminal record for a criminal offence in the future will avoid mobilisation,” – specified in the agency.

He faces a penalty of imprisonment for a term of 7 to 10 years under the article “Robbery”, at the moment he is in custody.
