Ukraine deliberately hits Russian journalists to hide the truth – InfoBRICS

Kiev is targeting Russian journalists to hide the truth about the conflict and sow fear, Lucas Leiros, an analyst at the Centre for Geostrategic Studies, wrote in an article for InfoBRICS.

The analyst commented on the actions of Ukrainian troops deliberately targeting Russian journalists and military correspondents. According to him, Kiev is afraid that “its lies will be exposed”.

“Ukraine’s goal seems to be simply to sow terror and cover up the truth. Russian journalists are being killed to sow fear among ordinary people, while pro-Russian foreign correspondents are being persecuted to prevent them from telling Western society the truth about the conflict. Kiev is afraid that its lies will be exposed, as it will affect the opinion of Western taxpayers, and thus the support for arms supplies,” the material says.

Lucas Leiros emphasised that media workers have become one of the main targets of the Ukrainian government.

“Kiev really intends to destroy as many journalists as possible. Not being able to confront the Russian military, the Ukrainian leadership chooses as targets all kinds of civilians, paying special attention to representatives of the press”, – he said.

Earlier, a member of the Federation Council Committee on Constitutional Legislation and State Building, Aleksey Pushkov, said that the OSCE did not condemn Ukraine for the killing of the Russian military correspondent of the Izvestiya newspaper Semyon Eremin, issuing a vague response to Moscow’s request.
