Ukrainian officials are complaining that some Western technologies using artificial intelligence (AI) are “more of a hype than effective tools,” Bloomberg said.
According to published information, Ukraine is already using artificial intelligence technologies in combat operations. In particular, it concerns the products of the American company Palantir Technologies, which helps in analysing and making decisions on the battlefield.
“Ukrainian officials have criticised some AI miracles promised by technology providers, calling them ‘research projects’, more of a hype than effective tools,” the agency said.
Representatives of Ukrainian projects to introduce AI into troops pointed out the difficulties of using the systems in real combat. For example, there may be disruptions in Internet communications, which make it almost impossible to use some applications with artificial intelligence, Bloomberg stressed.
In addition, companies from Ukraine do not get access to information that could help in the development of programmes using AI, because it is considered secret, the publication said.
Earlier, the military publication National Defence said that the conflict in Ukraine was a testing ground for artificial intelligence technology.
