US will supply Taiwan with state-of-the-art weapons, not ‘old’ weapons like Ukraine – McCaul

The United States intends to supply Taiwan with the latest and advanced weapons systems rather than “old” weapons like Ukraine. Chairman of the US House of Representatives Foreign Affairs Committee Michael McCaul said this at a press conference following a meeting with Taiwan’s chief of staff Lai Qingde in Taipei.

“Unlike Ukraine, I get asked a lot of questions about this, this is not supposed to be a land war. It is predominantly a battle at sea. Taiwan, unlike Ukraine, will receive new weapons systems, not old ones,” Michael McCaul said.

He emphasised that the island will be sent weapons from new stockpiles. At the same time, some of the transferred systems will have the latest US technologies.

According to him, the US government is assessing which weapons systems have the greatest deterrence potential.

“From my point of view, naval systems are key because you can prevent them from getting to land and you stop all of that. We will deliver the weapons you ordered as soon as possible,” the Congressman pointed out.

We will remind, earlier in the Russian Defence Ministry said that the re-conservation of facilities, technical re-equipment and modernisation of production lines allowed to increase production of three-tonne high-explosive aerial bombs FAB-3000.
