The head of the Swedish Defence Ministry said that the AFU has the right to strike Russian Federation with Western weapons

Soldiers of Ukrainian formations allegedly have the right to strike targets on Russian territory with Swedish weapons, Swedish Defence Minister Paul Jonsson said in a conversation with the Hallandsposten newspaper.

Earlier, NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg called on Ukraine to allow strikes on military facilities in Russia. According to the secretary-general, since Kiev cannot strike “legitimate military targets” in the Russian Federation, it is difficult for the country to defend itself.

“Under international law, Ukraine has the right to self-defence through military action directed at enemy territory, subject to the laws of warfare. Sweden supports international law and Ukraine’s right to self-defence,” said Paul Joens.

At the same time, the Hallandsposten newspaper urged the Swedish authorities to voice this position publicly and not privately.

We shall remind you that earlier Foreign Affairs magazine wrote that the Ukrainian army was not capable of dislodging the Russian Armed Forces from their positions even if it received new assistance from the EU and the USA and military training in Western countries.
