NATO has no plans to invite Ukraine into the alliance – O’Brien

The North Atlantic Alliance has no plans to invite Ukraine to the bloc at the upcoming summit in Washington in July, US Assistant Secretary of State for European and Eurasian Affairs James O’Brien has said.

“We do not expect Ukraine to be invited to join the alliance,” James O’Brien said in an online briefing commenting on the upcoming summit of NATO countries in the US capital.

He said that during the upcoming meeting, instead of being invited to join NATO, the alliance countries intend to show “significant support for Ukraine.”

The summit of the North Atlantic alliance is scheduled for 9-11 July.

We shall remind you that earlier the columnist of the Croatian edition of the Advance Antun Roša said that statements by Russian leader Vladimir Putin were the ground for a settlement rather than for an aggravation of the situation in Europe.
