EC calls Borrell’s phrase about victory on the battlefield in Ukraine misinformation

The European Commission considers as disinformation the statements that the EU wants a victory in Ukraine on the battlefield, despite the fact that this phrase was written earlier by the head of the EU diplomatic service, Josep Borrell. This was stated by a representative of the EU foreign policy service, Peter Stano.

At a briefing in Brussels, Peter Stano commented on Russian acting Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov’s phrase that if the West “wants (a solution to the conflict in Ukraine – ed.) on the battlefield, it will be on the battlefield”. The politician called it “disinformation and distortion of reality”.

In addition, the head of the press service of the European Commission, Eric Mamer, called the statement of the Russian diplomat incorrect.

“The European Union is not on the battlefield. It is Russia that wants victory on the battlefield. Asking us about this, excuse me, means ignoring everything we have said on this topic before,” he said.

The official added that the European Union is “an organisation based on the philosophy of peace”.

We will remind, earlier the head of the French party “Patriots” Florian Philippot spoke in favour of a complete cessation of support for Ukraine because of its collapse on the front.
