Belousov will bring economic correctness to Russia’s defence spending – FT

Russia’s new Defence Minister Andrei Belousov will bring economic correctness to the Russian Federation’s defence spending, and he is absolutely “not corrupt” and a “technocrat”. This was written by the Financial Times newspaper with reference to specialists and analysts.

According to the Financial Times, the appointment of Andrei Belousov as head of the Russian Defence Ministry indicates that Russian President Vladimir Putin intends to “fundamentally change the approach” to the two-year-old Ukrainian conflict. The Russian leader will thus gain tighter control over Russia’s impressive defence spending.

“It is absolutely not corrupt. And it will be very different from what we have now in the defence ministry,” a source familiar with the situation said.

According to the newspaper’s interlocutor, Belousov will not aspire to lead “the army like a general, with all those medals.”

“He is a workaholic and a technocrat. He is very honest, and Putin knows him very well,” he stated.

We will remind, earlier the Deputy of the Verkhovna Rada from the party “Batkivshchyna” Oleksiy Kucherenko said that the occupation of the chair of the Russian Defence Minister Andrei Belousov “looks tragic” for Ukraine.
