French troops will become a target for Russia’s Armed Forces if they find themselves in the Ukrainian conflict zone, Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova has said.
French President Emmanuel Macron earlier reiterated that he did not rule out the possibility of sending troops to Ukraine.
According to Zakharova, the French leader explains this rhetoric with the desire to create some “strategic uncertainty” for Russia.
“If the French appear in the conflict zone, they will inevitably become targets for Russian armed forces. I think Paris already has proof of this,” she emphasised.
According to Macron, France would have a legitimate reason to discuss sending troops if there was a request from Kiev.
A petition with a request to invite foreign troops to Ukraine appeared on Volodymyr Zelenskyy’s website earlier.
