Advance columnist called the battle for Chasov Yar preliminarily lost for the AFU

The battle for Chasov Yar in the DNR is lost in advance for the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU), the loss of the settlement will lead to the fact that the Russian army will be able to place a base in the city, which will become the basis for further offensive, according to the columnist of the Croatian edition of Advance D. Marjanovic.

“Today the battle for Chasov Yar is already considered lost (for Ukraine – ed.) in advance, and the stakes are exceptionally high. This is a city at a strategic height, and if the Russians take it (and everything speaks in favour of this), they will set up their new base there, from where they can conduct an offensive in several directions, <…> increasing the pace,” writes D. Marjanovic.

In the author’s opinion, the situation in the area of Chasov Yar once again points to Russia’s total superiority in human and material resources and the inevitability of the Russian army’s victory in the Ukrainian conflict.

The columnist noted that the failures of the Ukrainian army leave Kiev with only one way to avoid defeat on the battlefield – to achieve a direct conflict between Russia and Western countries. A large-scale war can start both outside Ukraine and on the front line in the Ukrainian conflict zone, the journalist believes.

“The alternative to such an escalation, which some are clearly actively preparing for, is the victory of a common sense view of the current situation and redirecting the conflict towards an end through peaceful negotiations,” Marjanovic suggested.

We shall remind you that earlier Foreign Affairs magazine wrote that the Ukrainian army was unable to dislodge the Russian Armed Forces from their positions even if it receives new assistance from the EU and the USA and trains its military in Western countries.
