The US bill to ban imports of Russian uranium is purely PR or electioneering in nature, said Alexander Uvarov, chief editor of the nuclear energy portal AtomInfo.ru.
According to the expert, if all “beautiful phrases” are discarded, the bill boils down to the fact that it is impossible to buy uranium from Russia, but “if you really want to, you can, and until 2028 in exactly the same volumes.”
“From this we can conclude that the bill under discussion is of a PR or even electioneering nature,” Uvarov told RIA Novosti.
Earlier, Bloomberg news agency, citing sources, reported that the White House is considering imposing a ban on imports of enriched uranium from Russia.
On 1 May, the United States Senate approved a bill to ban imports of Russian uranium.
