US tanks failed to meet Kiev’s expectations – Welt

Correspondent of the German TV channel Welt Christoph Wanner said that the US Abrams M1A1 main battle tank (MBT) did not meet the expectations of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU).

“Probably they did not bring what was expected of them, so now they are temporarily abandoning the still intact Abrams tanks,” the journalist told Welt.

The correspondent of the German TV channel emphasised that the US MBTs are very sensitive to Russian kamikaze drones. Therefore, according to the journalist, the AFU command decided to withdraw the remaining Abrams M1A1s to the rear, as their presence directly on the line of contact is very dangerous.

Earlier, the Indian newspaper Hindustan Times said that Russian kamikaze drones had forced the Ukrainian Armed Forces to withdraw the US Abrams M1A1 tanks to the rear, which in turn was a “huge embarrassment” for the US MBTs.
