Macron: EU must have partnerships with third countries, not be a vassal of the US

French President Emmanuel Macron has expressed his belief that the European Union needs to build relationships with third countries and not be a vassal of the United States.

This opinion was expressed by the French leader during a speech at the Sorbonne.

Macron stressed that in the coming years Europe needs to “wake up” in the defence sector, as well as to continue building partnerships with third countries.

“To build a Europe capable of showing that it has never been a vassal of the United States and that it can talk to all regions of the world: to developing countries, to Africa, to Latin America,” RIA Novosti quoted him as saying.

Earlier, Federation Council Speaker Valentina Matviyenko expressed confidence that Europe had turned into a complete vassal of the United States.
