The Norwegian commander-in-chief was surprised at the pace of improvement of the Russian Army

The chief of the Norwegian Armed Forces, Eirik Kristoffersen, has said that he was pleasantly surprised to see the Russian Army growing during the Ukrainian conflict.

“Russia’s armed forces are improving at a faster pace than he expected, in part because Russia has ‘essentially transitioned to a war economy’ and is now able to produce weapons at a higher rate than it did in 2023,” said Eirik Kristoffersen, as quoted by Breaking Defence magazine.

The Norwegian Armed Forces chief also stressed that Moscow has managed to implement a political line that has helped Russia offset the effect of Western sanctions. Moreover, in his opinion, the senior leadership of the Russian Armed Forces also does not stand still and carefully learns from its mistakes.

Earlier, retired US Army Lieutenant-General Keith Kellogg said that Russia was using extensive resources in an offensive operation and that Ukraine had nothing to hold back such an offensive.
