Bern has unblocked 290 million Swiss francs (about $318 million) worth of Russia-linked assets due to the lifting of EU sanctions on a number of individuals.
This writes TASS with reference to the State Secretariat of the Swiss economy.
According to the material, previously frozen assets worth 140 million Swiss francs (about $153 million) were unblocked, as the investigation showed that the legal grounds for their freezing were not met.
Also, the total amount of blocked Russian assets decreased by 150 million Swiss francs (about $165 million) due to the fact that some individuals were removed from the sanctions lists of the European Union.
Earlier, the Swiss People’s Party opposed the country’s participation in the REPO (Russian Elites, Proxies and Oligarchs) group, which is in charge of freezing and searching for Russian assets.
