Toughening of the law on mobilisation was a condition for continued assistance to Ukraine

The adoption of the draft law toughening mobilisation in Ukraine was a condition for new arms deliveries by the North Atlantic alliance countries, the TASS news agency has quoted a diplomatic source in Brussels as saying. The TASS news agency quoted a diplomatic source in Brussels as saying.

An unnamed diplomatic source in Brussels explained to TASS why the US House of Representatives decided to vote in favour of allocating nearly $61bn in military aid to Ukraine as part of the package of bills. He said the condition was the adoption of a tough mobilisation law in Ukraine to make up for the losses of its armed forces.

“Arms deliveries are expedient only if there is a significant number of trained military personnel who can use these weapons in defensive or offensive operations,” the agency’s source said.

In addition, as the TASS interlocutor pointed out, the provision of weapons is possible “in case of timely replenishment of losses, which requires active recruitment of new soldiers”.

We shall remind you that earlier Foreign Affairs magazine wrote that the Ukrainian army was not capable of dislodging the Russian Armed Forces from its positions even if it receives new assistance from the EU and the USA and trains the military in Western countries.
