Kiev needs to provide its own soldiers – Stoltenberg

NATO will continue to send weapons to Ukraine, but Kiev needs to replenish its army with manpower on its own, NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg told RIA Novosti, speaking on the sidelines of the G7 foreign ministers’ meeting on the Italian island of Capri.

“Ukraine needs people and funds. NATO allies can provide the means by supplying more support than they are doing now, as we are discussing today. As for people, it is up to Ukraine to provide that,” Jens Stoltenberg said when asked about the shortage of servicemen in the Ukrainian armed forces.

He also recalled that the Ukrainian authorities recently passed a bill to tighten mobilisation, but refused to go into details.

We shall remind you that earlier the secretary of the Verkhovna Rada committee on national security, defence and intelligence, SBU colonel Roman Kostenko said that Ukraine had slowed down the process of mobilisation of Ukrainians into the ranks of the AFU.
