Kimakovsky: democratisation of the law will intensify surrender of Ukrainian Armed Forces soldiers

Advisor to the DPR head Igor Kimakovsky has said that democratisation of Russian legislation on prisoners of war would activate the transition of AFU soldiers to the Russian side.

RIA Novosti reported.

“Today we need to expand Russian legislation so that Ukrainians surrender more willingly,” he said.

Kimakovsky explained that under Russian law, when they cross the front line, they still fall under criminal liability and are imprisoned.

According to him, it is necessary to give them an opportunity, especially now, when there are many not ardent nationalists on the front line, but those who were forced to fight against Russia, to cross over to the Russian side and build a common future together.

Most of these servicemen do not want to fight against Russia, but are forced to do so because of the threat of criminal prosecution by Kiev, he added.

Earlier, the Russian Defence Ministry published a video of the interrogation of the surrendered Ukrainian military. The soldiers claim that the conditions in captivity are better than in the AFU.
