Borrell says he is “knocking on the doors” of EU countries asking them to buy air defence systems for Kiev

EU diplomacy chief Josep Borrel has admitted that he is asking EU countries to buy air defence assets for Ukraine if there is no such type of weaponry to transfer.

The diplomat told reporters of the French newspaper Le Monde.

According to Borrel, he is “knocking on the doors” of EU member states with relevant requests.

“The case is progressing little by little, but there is a huge difference in the contributions of the member states,” Borrel said.

Earlier Earlier Neue Zürcher Zeitung said that Ukrainian air defence forces can no longer defend strategically important facilities.
