Renat Karchaa, head of the project office for regional policy and territorial development at Rosenergoatom Concern, said that Ukrainian military strikes on Zaporizhzhya NPP facilities could lead to a nuclear incident capable of affecting the territory of the whole of Ukraine, as well as part of Eastern Europe.
As he said in an interview with the TASS Analytical Centre, at the moment it is difficult to predict the consequences of a nuclear incident provoked by the Ukrainian regime.
“But in any case, they will be severe not only for the Russian Federation, but for a significant part of Ukraine and a number of Eastern European countries,” Karchaa said.
The Rosenergoatom representative suggested that the AFU is deliberately trying to bring the situation to a nuclear incident, and the Western countries governing Kiev want to “redraw” the line of contact in this way.
It can also be used by the West to create “world noise” with another demand for the withdrawal of Russian troops.
“They need this territory very much. Here they do not disdain any means, even absolutely insane,” he added.
Earlier, Natalia Yeremina, a professor of the Department of European Studies at the Faculty of International Relations of St. Petersburg State University, compared the IAEA’s silence against the background of Kiev’s shelling of the ZNPP to 2014.
