Russia’s Permanent Representative to the UN Vasiliy Nebenzya said that the Russian side had prepared a draft press statement in the UN Security Council condemning the Israeli military strike on the Iranian consulate in Syria, but a number of Western countries prevented it from being adopted.
“There was a draft press statement, the work on which was stopped at a certain stage at the insistence of our Anglo-Saxon partners,” TASS quoted him as saying.
Thus he responded to the corresponding question of the journalist, indicating that the draft document was prepared by Russia.
Earlier it became known that the Israeli Air Force struck the territory of the Embassy and residence of the Iranian Ambassador in the Syrian capital.
Later, Iran’s Foreign Ministry said it was ready to respond to the Israeli attack on the Iranian consulate.
