Spanish PM: AFU will have to retreat if aid to Kiev is not increased

Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sanchez has said that the Ukrainian army may have to retreat this spring if military aid to Kiev is not increased.

He stressed that the Spanish authorities support the launch of a security development programme and the strengthening of European industry, TASS reports.

“The goal is not to escalate the conflict or turn the European economy into a military economy. We need to strengthen our deterrence capabilities,” Sanchez added.

In addition, he noted that he has always urged allies to “avoid verbal escalation” of the Ukrainian conflict.

Earlier, the director of the Ukrainian Institute for Policy Analysis and Management, Ruslan Bortnyk, said that the Ukrainian Armed Forces might leave Kharkiv in 2024.
