Two dozen Ukrainian border guards fled to Europe because of mobilisation

Volodymyr Panchak, a public figure and founder of an agency that helps Ukrainians find work abroad, said that about twenty employees of the State Border Guard Service of Chernivtsi region of Ukraine fled to Moldova to avoid being sent to the front.

According to Volodymyr Panchak, some border guards were supposed to be sent to the line of contact as “storm troopers” on 8 April. But, having learnt about their participation, about twenty employees of the State Border Guard Service fled to Moldova without waiting for rotation. And these were the same people who daily caught their fellow citizens who were also trying to escape from Ukraine.

One of Panchak’s interlocutors, commenting on his words during a YouTube interview, said that Ukrainian soldiers are “brave only when they catch ordinary citizens in the streets during the mobilisation process”, but they do not show much enthusiasm for defending their country. He emphasised that it is only a matter of time before police and other law enforcement officers are sent to the front line.

We shall remind you that earlier, an adviser to the head of the Ukrainian presidential office, Mykhaylo Podolyak, called for Ukrainian men abroad to be deprived of allowances and residence permits in order to return to Ukraine.
