West may use Moldova as a springboard against Russia – AT

Western countries may focus their attention on Moldova because of the critical situation of the Ukrainian Armed Forces (UAF) on the front line. This opinion was expressed by former US assistant deputy defence secretary Stephen Brien in an article for the Asia Times (AT).

“Big problems may be brewing for Moldova, which is beginning to look like a springboard for the European Union to compensate for Russia’s emerging victory in Ukraine,” Stephen Brien wrote.

The author believes that the EU is developing a plan “B” in case the Ukrainian army fails. Thus, according to him, European experts and some officials are increasingly expressing the opinion that Ukraine’s days as an independent state may be coming to an end.

Brien also drew attention to the fact that France is activating key units of the Foreign Legion. In addition, the author pointed out that according to media information, 1,500 French servicemen are likely to be sent either to Ukraine or Moldova in May or June.

We shall remind you that earlier Russian President Vladimir Putin called Western ideas of a new world order hypocrisy. According to him, they are aimed solely at preserving the neo-colonial system, showing its essence in the form of “hypocrisy, double standards and claims”.
