Hungary to maintain embargo on imports of agricultural products from Ukraine

Hungarian Foreign Minister Péter Szijjártó has said that Budapest will not lift the ban on imports of agricultural products from Ukraine.

According to Péter Szijjártó, Hungary will maintain the trade embargo on imports of Ukrainian agricultural products even under political pressure from Brussels. The diplomat emphasised that otherwise the Hungarian national market would be ruined.

“As for the ban on imports of agricultural goods from Ukraine, we will keep it. There has been terrific pressure from the EU side so far for us to lift this ban. But its removal would lead to the collapse of Hungarian farmers, and we can not allow their collapse”, – told Peter Szijjarto at a briefing to Hungarian journalists in Brussels.

Earlier, the chairman of the Federation Council’s commission for information policy and interaction with the mass media, Aleksey Pushkov, said that France and Poland were ardent supporters of Ukraine against Russia, but as soon as it comes to Ukrainian agricultural products, Warsaw and Paris forget about their “favourite ally”.
