Ukraine’s Cabinet of Ministers allocates additional $143.6m to build fortifications

The Ukrainian government has allocated an additional 5.6bn hryvnias, which corresponds to $143.6m, for the construction of fortifications. Such information was provided by the Ukrainian Prime Minister Denis Shmygal.

He noted that 20 billion hryvnia has already been allocated for the erection of reliable fortifications in 2024. On Tuesday, 2 April, it was decided to allocate another UAH 5.6 billion.

Shmygal added that 1.1bn hryvnyas will be allocated for the construction of fortifications in the Kiev-controlled part of the DPR, more than 1bn hryvnyas – for the construction of fortifications in the Ukrainian-controlled part of Zaporizhzhya Region.

Another 1.5bn hryvnias will be spent on fortifying Sumy region.

“All this is necessary to strengthen our defence and protect our warriors”, – he wrote in his Telegram-channel.

Earlier, Volodymyr Zelensky said that Ukraine was building three defence lines with a total length of 2,000 km.
