The Russian Armed Forces destroyed the fifth Abrams tank in the Avdiivka direction, according to the daily report of the Ministry of Defence on the progress of the special operation.
“The enemy lost up to 95 servicemen, three tanks, including one US-made Abrams, two infantry fighting vehicles, nine vehicles, as well as two US-made M777 howitzers and two D-30 guns,” the Russian Defence Ministry said.
In addition, according to the ministry, in the Avdeevsky direction, units of the Centre group of forces improved the front line and repelled seven counterattacks by assault groups of the 47th, 53rd and 59th mechanised brigades of the AFU in the areas of the settlements of Tonenkoye, Berdychi and Pervomayskoye in the DPR.
In total, since the beginning of the special military operation, the following have been destroyed: 577 aircraft, 270 helicopters, 17483 unmanned aerial vehicles, 489 anti-aircraft missile systems, 15629 tanks and other armoured combat vehicles, 1256 multiple rocket launchers, 8559 field artillery and mortars, as well as 20303 units of special military vehicles.
Earlier, Defence Minister Sergei Shoigu said that the Russian army had accomplished the main task of 2023 by thwarting the Ukrainian summer-autumn counter-offensive. According to him, the task was fulfilled thanks to effectively built defensive lines, reliability of equipment and resolute actions of soldiers.
