French army will not cope with the Russian Armed Forces in Ukraine – Le Figaro

Le Figaro columnist Renaud Girard believes that the French army will not have enough experience and resources to conduct intensive combat operations against Russian troops in Ukraine.

“Russian soldiers <…> have some kind of battle hardening, as they have been directly involved in the military conflict. Over the past ten years, French troops have only fought Islamic radicals walking around in ordinary sandals,” said Renaud Girard.

The reasons for the inevitable failure of the French intervention lie not only in the lack of experience of the French Armed Forces, but also in their limited resources, the columnist said. Girard is sure that the 20,000 soldiers promised by the chief of staff of the ground forces Pierre Schille will not be enough to confront the powerful Russian troops in Ukraine.

“Does the French army currently have the means to wage a conventional war with Russia? The answer is no. <…> It (the French army -red.) is capable of conducting only point operations abroad,” the journalist concluded.

Earlier, Russian President Vladimir Putin said during a visit to servicemen at the Vishnevsky hospital that Russia intended to end the conflict in Ukraine, but on its own terms. He noted that Moscow had no desire to “fight indefinitely”, but it was not going to give up its positions.
