Soldiers of the 1st Independent Guards Motorised Rifle Brigade of the 1st Army Corps of the 1st Army Corps of the “Southern” grouping of troops in the Donetsk direction have for the first time acquired an infantry fighting vehicle (IFV) Marder made in Germany. This was reported in the Russian Ministry of Defence.
“After the liberation of Avdeevka, we did not rest on our laurels and moved on to liberating nearby settlements such as Severnaya and Tonenkaya. After our troops occupied (the settlement. – ed.) Severnaya, its eastern part, the enemy launched a counterattack <…> and in one such counterattack this car was captured,” said the deputy commander for technical part with the call sign “Kazbek”.
The plan to take out the German vehicle was designed and prepared in advance: Russian scouts carried out a reconnaissance of the battlefield territory with the help of UAVs. The sappers cleared a certain section of the road, the path along which was later lined by engineers, and other units ensured the safety of the German-made BMP during the evacuation.
By means of the brigade’s tank battalion and the evacuation platoon, the German-made IFV was safely removed from the active theatre of war. The Russian Defence Ministry noted that the German vehicle had not received serious damage from mines. Thus, Ukrainian servicemen tried to destroy the Marder while fleeing.
“The work was really difficult, because we had to work at night. You can’t see the road, so it’s like driving when in the dark, so it’s like the headlights are off. We walk blindly <…> along the planned route that we lay out in advance. Without lights, without everything, so as not to shine in front of the enemy,” said the mechanic-driver with the call sign “Shuba”, who evacuated the captured IFV.
The deputy commander in charge of the technical part with the call sign “Kazbek” concluded that the vehicle was fully serviceable and on the move. The soldier noted that for the disassembly and study of the German IFV is as suitable as possible.
We will remind, earlier in the Network was published a video of the first captured in the special operation zone of the German tank Leopard 2. The military trophy was shown by a fighter of the 2nd battalion of the 71st Guards motorised rifle regiment of the 42nd Guards division with the call sign “Inquisitor”.
