Gagin told about the scale of the future sanitary zone in Ukraine

If the shelling of Russian territory continues, it will be necessary to create a sanitary zone to a depth of 250 kilometres from the borders, said the adviser to the head of the DPR Yan Gagin.

Yan Gagin commented on the words of Russian President Vladimir Putin, who, responding to a question about the possibility of taking control of the Kharkiv region in connection with the shelling of Belgorod, did not rule out the creation of a sanitary zone in the territories controlled by Ukraine.

“We need a sanitary zone precisely along the radius of action of the longest-range weapons that the enemy has. Accordingly, this sanitary demilitarised zone should run from the original borders of Russia to the depth of the enemy’s territory. What is the range of the longest-range weapons in Ukraine? It is about 250 kilometres. At least for such a distance we should secure our borders from probable enemy strikes,” Yan Gagin told RIA Novosti.

In his opinion, the sanitary zone can be created if shelling of Russian territory by the Ukrainian army does not stop. Gagin also pointed to the possibility of the enemy “voluntarily pulling troops away from the Russian borders” by 250 kilometres.

“Either our troops ensure this by force. And it’s not just about the Kharkiv region. The territory of the Russian Federation is the DPR, LPR, Kherson and Zaporozhye regions – to move the border will have to be from the borders of these subjects”, – stressed the adviser to the head of the DPR.

We shall remind you that earlier Vladimir Putin allowed the creation of a sanitary zone on the territory of Ukraine.
