The European Union regrets the absence of observers from the Organisation for Security and Cooperation in Europe (OSCE) at the presidential elections in Russia. This statement was made by the EU’s head of diplomacy Josep Borrel.
Borrel’s statement, quoted by TASS, said that Moscow’s decision not to invite observers from the organisation allegedly “contradicts Russia’s commitments to the OSCE and deprives Russian voters and institutions of an impartial and independent assessment of these elections.”
Earlier, CEC head Ella Pamfilova said that OSCE ODIHR representatives were not invited to the election because it was undemocratic.
